When you’re picking out infrared lamps for a bathroom, the waterproof rating (IP66) is important, sure. But there’s a bigger problem most people miss: the light. Standard short-wave lamps are aggressive. They blast out a high-intensity glare that’s honestly a bit much for the eyes—especially if you’re bathing a baby. Nobody wants to stare into a miniature sun while trying to relax. The Trick to Softer Light To fix this, we play around with the light spectrum. We put special coatings on the quartz glass to block those harsh blue peaks and that blinding glare. Essentially, we push the energy toward the long-wave side of things. You still feel that deep, cozy heat on your skin, but the light hitting your eyes is way softer. It gets rid of that “blinding” feeling you get with those cheap halogen heaters. Keeping the Water Out We all know water and electricity are a bad mix. That’s why these lamps live in a sealed chassis. It’s built to take a direct hit from a high-pressure water jet without a single drop getting inside. We use high-temp silicone for the seals. Why? Because cheap rubber cracks or shrinks the moment the lamp heats up. These stay put. The Trade-off Now, here’s the honest part. Filtering the light comes with a small price. Because we’re blocking some of those waves to save your eyesight, you lose a tiny bit of raw heat compared to a clear glass tube. It’s not a dealbreaker, but you might need to bump up the wattage or move the heater a bit closer to get that same “toasty” feeling. A Few Tips for Setup We designed these to be simple drop-in replacements. The wiring is easy, but just double-check that your circuit breaker can handle the initial surge when the elements kick in. One last thing: be careful with the gaskets. If a seal gets pinched or breached during install, moisture will sneak in and fry the filament pretty quickly. Just make sure everything is seated tight, and you’re good to go.
